More Weather Stories...

This is my third posting about the weather. That means I'm either a true Midwesterner, obsessed with meterology, or my life is so boring I have nothing else to post. I took this picture last night when the power went out during a thunderstorm. We spent a quiet evening reading books by candlelight. Owen and Miles remarked to us that during pioneer times they couldn't do things like play the Wii, use the computer, or go to the bathroom with the lights on.

The day before there was another strong thunderstorm that hit the area. We had just finished a picnic at a park preserve about 15 miles from home. As we left the park the sky turned VERY dark it started to rain. Soon the sirens went off. I was in the middle of a housing development and couldn't find a gas station or business anywhere. I couldn't get a weather report on the radio, so I looked for a house with lights on and rang the doorbell. I asked the man who answered if we could come in. After we were inside I realized that I didn't have my cell phone with me and I had no idea where I was. I hoped and prayed I wasn't in Jeffrey Dahmer's house. We stayed there about 30 minutes until the winds died down and the hail stopped. As we left Owen said to the man, "Thank you for saving our life".

we don't have that sort of bad weather in texas and all of our subdivisions have at least one lowes, home depot, walmart, or chilis within 5 miles. i do have to admit that it is only July and according to Jim Spencer we've had 24 days of triple degree weather. glad owen and miles survived a night of no wii. that would have been a tradegy at our house. much love! meg
