Itasca State Park is home to Lake Itasca, where the Mississippi River begins. It's pretty amazing to think that the mighty river begins as just a small creek that barely covers your ankles. The lake was picturesque and the visitors center had lots of interesting information. But we were a bit surprised by how crowded it was. Liem likened it to watching Old Faithful erupt. It was impossible to snap a picture without other people in it.
