Road Trip Stop #1

At the end of July we headed to Boston for Liem's family reunion to celebrate his dad's 80th birthday. We decided to drive so we could enjoy 22 hours of family time on the road together. (At least that's what we told ourselves when I tried to book 5 plane tickets + rental car).

After 42 bathroom breaks, 26 cups of coffee and 5 bags of sunflower seeds, we pulled into Ithaca NY. Aside from being a very quaint and hippy college town, Ithaca is home to the Moosewood Cafe. Liem and I have wanted to dine at Moosewood since we started collecting Moosewood cookbooks in our early vegetarian days. The restaurant didn't disappoint. We all dined well. It might be the last time though, that we drive 17 hours for a meal.

I would have been right there with you at Moosewood. My other favorite veg cookbook is from the Horn of the Moon, which is located somewhere in Vermont. I wouldn't drive 17 hours, but I would drive 17 miles. And face it, Michelle, with 5 people in your family, you're not likely to be flying much anymore. Save those FF miles!
