Snowcones and the Best $1 I ever spent

I've been housebound most of the week. You could look at it in two ways. Perhaps I'm being a good mom in keeping my baby sheltered from the extreme cold. Or I'm a lazy wuss because I don't want the hassle of bundling Eli up to go out. However you look at it, staying home 5 days in a row makes you resourceful. One afternoon Miles, Owen and I were trying to come up with an afterschool treat that didn't require baking. Memories of making snowcones w/ my brother and sister popped into my head. We grabbed some snow from the yard and added some not-yet-frozen fla-vor-ice syrup.

I told the boys not to tell their friends we did this. I think some parents might be appalled.

I ran out of cream for coffee and the soymilk I was using was getting boring. I remembered a small contraption I bought for a buck at IKEA. It's a hand steamer that makes a mean froth. Now I don't even miss my creamy half and half. I can have a latte anytime that rivals Starbucks. If you live near an IKEA, I highly reccommend getting one!
