While it was fun watching the boys enjoy themselves, Liem and I were fascinated by some zealous parents in their quest to design the fastest car. Things like "use some fine grit sandpaper on the wheels" and "a little graphite will do the trick" could be heard in conversations. If we want to be competitive next year, I guess we'd better get started now.

The Derby
We recently spent one afternoon with the Cub Scouts at the Pinewood Derby. It's an annual tradition of racing wooden cars on a 25ft metal track. Owen designed his car after a hammer head shark. Liem helped him cut the wood, and Owen did the painting. His car wasn't one of the fast ones, but he did win an award for design.

That looks like fun! I have no clue why parents are so competitive ... Wayne and I usually just shake our heads ... HA!
Thanks for the comment on our blog ... Emily is at the whiny stage of the flu and is loads of fun!
